Daddy Daughter Dance

Saturday, April 6, 2019 | 5:00 to 7:00 pm at  Glenside Hall, 185 S. Keswick Ave. Fee is $30 for dad daughters
For daughters ages 3 -14. Grandfathers and uncles may sub for dads. DJ, light refreshments and games included. The dress code for girls is skirts, dresses or dress pants/blouse, and button down shirt and ties for dads. Online Registration or register at La Mott Community Center, Rowland Community Center and Parks & Recreation Office. Arbor Day 

Friday, April 26, 2019 | 10:00 am at Kleinheinz Pond on Tookany Creek Parkway in Cheltenham

Cheltenham Township will commemorate its 31st Annual Arbor Day Celebration. The Township expects to receive its 21st consecutive Tree City USA Award  for its continued progress in community forestry activities.


Fishing Derby
   
Saturday, June 1, 2019 | 9:00 am to 12:00 noon | $3 Fee at Kleinheinz Pond on Tookany Creek Parkway (between Central Avenue and Beryl Road in Cheltenham)
Children can test their skill and luck at the 62nd Annual Fishing Derby. The derby is open to kids up to age 15 and children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. The $3 entrance fee entitles participants use the pole and line, one hot dog, one soda and a chance to win great prizes. Participants must bring their own bait. The fishing derby is presented by the Cheltenham/Rockledge Rotary Club in cooperation with the Cheltenham Township Parks and Recreation Department. There is no rain date for this event. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., come early to get the best spot around the pond!

Glenside Pool: Friday, June 7th & Friday, July 12th, 185 S. Keswick Ave., Glenside
Conklin Pool: Friday, June 28th & Tuesday, July 30th, 15 E.Church Rd., Elkins Park
Enjoy a family movie and evening swimming for all ages. Children ages 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. You must have your own pool tag to attend. Each tag holding member may bring one non-member guest. Bring your own raft or tube and float in the water while enjoying the movie. Refreshments are available for purchase and include water, wings, noodles. Small inflatable toys are NOT acceptable flotation devices.*Parent must get into the water with any children 10 and under. These movies will be shown in the lawn area and shallow end of the pools. 

Playground Carnival
Friday, July 26 • 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. • Wall Park, 100 Wall Park Dr., Elkins Park

Recreational Swim and Children's Lessons at the Cheltenham High School Pool  (2019)   
Come out and enjoy evening recreational swims at the Cheltenham High School pool one night a week during the fall and winter/spring season. The pool, located at Rices Mill Road and Panther Road in Wyncote, will be open on Wednesdays from 7:45PM to 9:45PM. Daily fees are $4 for resident adults ($8 for non-resident adults) or $3 for resident youths ($6 for non-resident youths) under age 18, college students up to age 23 and seniors age 62 and over.  Seasonal tags may be purchased at the pool for $30 for resident adults ($55 for non-resident adults) or $20 for resident youths ($45 for non-resident youths), college students or seniors.  CASH ONLY. Swimmers must supply their own towels, caps and bathing suits.  Lockers are available, but participants must supply their own locks.  The township is not responsible for personal items in the locker room. Access to pool - please use door #C-11 by the tennis court area.
Now accepting non-residents for swim lessons in the fall and winter at the Cheltenham High School Pool, but NOT in the summer at Glenside or Conklin Pools.

During Sundays in the Spring and Fall Tookany Creek Parkway is closed to motor vehicles - weather permitting - so that cyclists, in-line skaters, joggers, walkers and others can enjoy the roadway free from traffic. Vehicles are diverted from Tookany Creek Parkway between Central Avenue and Beryl Road from 1PM to 4PM. Through traffic is allowed on Beryl Road.  

Halloween Party 
Saturday, October 26, 2019 | 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm | $5 per Child at  La Mott Community Center
Family Event | For Children Ages 2 & Up Older (Parents are free)
Join us if you dare in ghoulish games, a costume contest, tricks and treats. The party will run from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Call 215-635-3255 by October 18th to register.

Hayride and Bonfire 2019 
Welcome the onset of chilly weather by enjoying a hayride down to a bonfire to listen to music or sing along on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. This event in beautiful Curtis Arboretum, located at Church Road and Greenwood Avenue in Wyncote, costs $5 per person, but children 2 & younger are free. Hot chocolate, cider and other light refreshments are included. Rain date: Friday, November 15, 2019.




 


The American black community, both military and civilian, contributed more to the winning of World War II than most people, even today, realize. Local historian, Bill Chambrés will present a lecture highlighting some of the histories of persons and units who made those contributions. Based upon the journal-type magazine which he edited in 2018, these historic accounts will keep you riveted to your seats during this Free presentation.
