The following Parks & Recreation facilities are closed:

  • Conklin Pool and Glenside Pool
  • La Mott Community Center and Rowland Community Center
  • Sports Courts (basketball, roller hockey, skating, pickle ball, tennis)
  • Sports Fields (football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball)
  • All Playgrounds
  • All Pavilions
  • The Curtis Dog Park

All summer camp programs and events are canceled until further notice.

Parks and trails remain open for walking, jogging, and activities where social distancing can be maintained.


Spring Flea Market POSTPONED

Tookany Creek Trail Fest POSTPONED

Tookany Creek Trail Fest is Cheltenham's kickoff to spring and Earth Day week activities, and will be held on the official Opening Day for Trails on April 18, 2020! This event will be held along Tookany Creek Trail at the trail-head near the Tookany Creek Parkway and Central Avenue parking lot in Cheltenham. Outlet Shopping and Casino Trip POSTPONED

You must be 21 or older to attend this trip. Must bring ID when you purchase your ticket.
Join our bus trip to Atlantic City where you can shop at the outlet stores, walk along the boardwalk, take in the sights and sounds, and play at the casinos. Ticket is $35 but you will receive $30 in slot play at Bally's Casino. Click here for more information.

During Sundays in the Spring and Fall Tookany Creek Parkway is closed to motor vehicles - weather permitting - so that cyclists, in-line skaters, joggers, walkers and others can enjoy the roadway free from traffic. Vehicles are diverted from Tookany Creek Parkway between Central Avenue and Beryl Road from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Through traffic is allowed on Beryl Road.

Fishing Derby CANCELED
Saturday, June 6, 2020 | 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon | Kleinheinz Pond on Tookany Creek Parkway
(Between Central Avenue and Beryl Road in Cheltenham)
Children can test their skill and luck at the 62nd Annual Fishing Derby. Open to Kids up to age 15, and children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. The $3 entrance fee entitles participants use the pole and line, one hot dog, one soda, and a chance to win great prizes. Participants must bring their own bait. The fishing derby is presented by the Cheltenham/Rockledge Rostary Club in cooperation with the Cheltenham Township Parks and Recreation Department. There is no rain date for this event. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., come early to get a good spot!

Glenside Pool: Friday, June 12th & Friday, July 10th, 185 S. Keswick Ave., Glenside
Conklin Pool: Friday, June 26th & Friday, July 31st, 15 E. Church Rd., Elkins Park
Enjoy a family movie and evening swimming. Children ages 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Pool tags are required to attend. Each tag holding member may bring one non-member guest. Bring your own raft or tube to float in the water. Refreshments are available for purchase and include water, wings, noodles. Small inflatable toys are NOT acceptable flotation devices. *Parents must get into the water with any children 10 and under. These movies will be shown in the lawn area and shallow end of the pools.

Downtown Glenside Arts Festival CANCELED

The 6th Annual Downtown Glenside Arts Festival will celebrate the arts and Earth Day by featuring crafts, food, entertainment, Earth Day activities and wine tasting. Festival Partners include the Downtown Glenside Community Partnership, the Downtown Glenside Foundation, Cheltenham Township, Sustainable Cheltenham and Arcadia University

Resident Artists' Exhibit POSTPONED

A free opening reception highlights the exhibit of the current Artists in Residence. Works include painting, ceramics and printmaking. Information: 215-379-4660. Gallery hours are Mondays through Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Memorial Day Service CANCELED
Monday, May 25, 2020 | 10:30 a.m. starting at the 600 block of Old Central Avenue and ending at the Township War Memorial at Central Avenue and Tookany Parkway
Starting at 10:30 a.m., a brief memorial service will be held at the historic Gospel of Grace cemetery located on Central Avenue behind the Shovel Shop (located at 300 Ashbourne Rd). Afterwards, a flag raising and a roll call of the Cheltenham veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country will be held at the Cheltenham Township War Memorial, located at Central and Tookany Creek Parkway, just a short walk away. Both ceremonies will include a rifle salute.

Arts in the Park featuring Sustainable Cheltenham POSTPONED
Sunday, June 7, 2020 (Rain date June 9, 2020) | 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. | High School Park, High School Road & Montgomery Avenue, Elkins Park
This popular annual festival will again feature high-quality wares from at least 50 juried artisans in addition to live music, fun kids' activities and tasty food vendors. In addition, the event will include Sustainable Cheltenham activities, including award winners, student projects and more. Information: 215-782-8082.
