Public Works employees made a little boy's day with a special visit.
This
Halloween, Mia Striano knew the perfect costume idea for her 18-month-old son,
Dominic. His favorite Monday morning activity is watching at the door for
the Public Works Trash and Recycling trucks to come by. So with Halloween
falling on a Monday, Dominic dressed as his favorite municipal machine - a
trash truck - and showed the laborers his costume as they collected their
route.
When Mia shared the photos with the Township, the employees at the
Public Works Yard couldn't contain their enthusiasm at the moment of
positivity. It's not often that public employees get to see themselves as
role models. "When Dominic supported us with his Halloween costume, it lifted
our spirits, we wanted to lift his spirits too," said Refuse/Recycling
Superintendent Mike Bodo.
A number of Public Works employees each chipped in and ordered
Dominic his very own toddler recycling truck. The employees came out with
a lineup of trucks from the garage, refuse, recycling, leaf collection, and
highway roles to be a part of the surprise. Mike even added a child's vest so Dominic could look the part.

"Opportunities
like this don’t happen every day," Mike said. "Seeing Dom’s
excitement looking at the trucks boosted the morale of the department on a
Monday morning."
Dominic, for his part, will be busy keeping his home litter-free
with his new recycling truck - and the guys on Truck 618 will be looking out for
their #1 fan every Monday on Route A.
