Township Offers Condolences on the Passing of Wilbert Spence
Cheltenham Township and the Board of Commissioners is saddened to hear of the passing of resident Wilbert Spence, 58, of Glenside. Mr. Spence was a prior recipient of a Community Service Award from the Township.
One of his neighbors, Juanita Anderson, offered the following remembrance of Mr. Spence:

"One of our most cherished neighbors, Wilbert Spence, has died. Will, as he was called, lived in the family home alone and was always a person of good will, caring and kindness to all. He snowplowed the sidewalks from Radcliff and Limekiln Pike to Waverly Rd so that the children could walk in safety to Glenside Elementary. He also plowed the walkways for neighbors on the even side of Limekiln Pike. Will could be seen helping with car parts, lawn mowers, repairing, collecting leaves, hauling to the collection sites, etc. for neighbors. He would deliver eggs and fresh vegetables that he purchased from his friend's farm in upstate PA, for the VFW and neighbors. He kept a keen eye on our homes regardless if we were going out of town or not and these are only a few things that I personally know about. He always had a kind word and willing to offer his skills to anyone regardless of party affiliation."

Will was recognized by the Board in 2018 for his acts of kind service to his Glenside community, and his passing is a great loss to his community and everyone that knew him.
