Mask Donation: Korean American Association of Greater Philadelphia

The Korean American Association of Greater Philadelphia (KAAGP) donated 2,000 masks for first responders and emergency personnel.
On Friday, August 28, representatives of the KAAGP donated six boxes of masks - 1,000 K95 and 1,000 surgical - for use by Cheltenham Township first responders and emergency personnel.  KAAGP members and staff from the New York Consulate General's office were able to drop off the donation and interact with Township Emergency Management staff, Commissioners, and the Interim Township Manager via social distancing at the Township Administration Building.

The donation was part of the "Community Make Masks Campaign", an initiative of the Korean American Community COVID-19 Emergency Committee that has contributed over 37,000 masks, including N95, KN95, surgical, disposable, and handmade fabric masks to local hospitals, nursing facilities, municipalities, and other organizations.  The Committee, formed April 2, is a partnership that includes members of the KAAGP, Korean Dry Cleaners Association of Greater Philadelphia, the Montgomery County Korean Senior Association, Korean Traditional Music of Philadelphia, and the Korean American Citizens Association of Greater Philadelphia.

The Community Make Masks Campaign began distributing the masks through a drive-through method in June. Cheltenham Township was the most recent recipient of this generosity, and is looking forward to building more bonds with the Korean American community.
