Police Department Makes Policies Available to the Public

The Cheltenham Township Police Department has made the following policies available to the public: Authorization, Mission and Oath; Use of Deadly Force; Response to Resistance; Complaints Against Police; Selection of Police Recruits; Prohibition of Biased-Based Policing.
 

The Cheltenham Township Police Department has received a number of inquiries regarding some of the policies and procedures of the Police Department. The majority of the questions have been focused on policies such as Use of Force, The Hiring Process, Citizens Complaints and Biased-Based Policing. 

The Cheltenham Township Police Department is an Accredited Agency through the PA Chiefs of Police and the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Agency (PLEAC). There are over 1100 police departments in Pennsylvania and only 120 are accredited.  Accreditation is the professionalization of Law Enforcement and means that our Department has in place and is following the most recommended standards and objectives in policing. The Cheltenham Police Department has held this status since 2012 and re-accreditation occurs every three years.
