Ogontz Park Update
Posted on Friday August 30, 2019
The park has areas where the turf isn't fully restored but the running track and areas of the field will open by September 15th.

Ogontz Park Will Open Limited Areas of the Fields by Mid-September

Ogontz Park has been closed for a year and a half to restore the grounds and let them rest and settle. The hope was to open the park and fields in the spring, but due to weather related issues the park needed more time for proper restoration. The tennis courts are currently the only recreational amenity that is open, and can be accessed at through entrance on High School Road.

Cheltenham Township personnel and contractors completed a final walk through of Ogontz Field this week to assess the conditions. There are areas of the field where the turf is not established sufficiently. Temporary fencing will be installed to control exposure and activity in those areas of the field. However, under the current circumstances the Township will reopen the running track and usable portions of the fields to the community by September 15, 2019, with a limitation on the issuance of usage permits for athletic associations until April of 2020.
