Cheltenham Township Honors a Parks and Recreation Employee for Service
and Awards a Citizen with a Community Service Award

The Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners honors Susan Fries, the director of Rowland community center for service upon her retirement, and presents a Community Service award to her at the June 19th Board of Commissioners meeting.

Susan Fries was honored upon her retirement after more than 30 years of dedicated service with the Cheltenham Township Parks and Recreation Department. Fries began her career as director of Rowland Community Center on February 21, 1989, a position she held until her retirement on May 31, 2019. During Fries’ years at Cheltenham Township she organized events at Rowland Community Center, including Government Day, the Annual Fishing Derby at Kleinheinz Pond, Liberty Swim League, Arbor Day, Rowland Haunted House, kite flying contests, and Kiddee Camp Summer programs. She ran BINGO events at the Rowland Community Center, Township pools, concession stands for Flick N Float events and the Playground Carnival at Wall Park. Fries experience and dedication to Cheltenham Township will be sorely missed. The Board of Commissioners of Cheltenham Township officially honored Fries for her impressive career with a Resolution that was presented to her at the meeting.
