Cheltenham Twp. Receives Montco 2040 Implementation Grant
Posted on Monday June 04, 2018
Cheltenham Township has received a 2018 Montco 2040 Implementation Grant for its Jenkintown Creek Restoration: Conklin Recreation Center.

The grant, aimed at implementing the county comprehensive plan, Montco 2040: A Shared Vision, is one of fourteen recently awarded by the Montgomery County Commissioners. These 2018 grant awards account for over $1,500,000. Since the program’s inception in 2016, over $3.7 million has been awarded to projects.

Cheltenham Township, with the guidance and expertise of the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership, Inc. (TTF), will retrofit the stream corridor in Conklin Recreation Center to install a new stormwater control feature that will intercept and filter runoff from surrounding neighborhood and high-level impervious properties. The feature will manage 42 acres of contributing drainage, which is currently discharging to the creek. This project is part of TTF’s clean water efforts in its upstream communities, focusing on the Jenkintown Creek in the Abington/ Jenkintown area, through the Delaware River Watershed Initiative of the William Penn Foundation.
