LEFT TURNS TO BE PROHIBITeD AT ROUTE 309-GREENWOOD AVE. INTERSECTION IN CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP FOR ONE MONTH FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION
Left turns will be prohibited at the intersection of Route 309 and Greenwood Avenue in Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, for one month starting Thursday night (Feb. 28) at 7 p.m. for the reconstruction of the center section of Route 309, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced. The left-turn restriction is expected to last until March 27. Starting Thursday night, southbound Route 309 drivers will not be able to turn left onto Greenwood Avenue, and Greenwood Avenue motorists will not be able to make a left onto Route 309 South. PennDOT will post detour signs to direct motorists around the restricted area. The signs will take southbound Route 309 drivers over Cheltenham Avenue, Washington Lane and Church Road to reach Greenwood Avenue. For Greenwood Avenue motorists, they will follow Route 309 North to the Easton Road exit, where they will turn left onto Easton Road and take it to the ramp leading to Route 309 South. The reconstruction of the center portion of Route 309 at the intersection of Greenwood Avenue is part of PennDOT’s $88.3 million contract to reconstruct Route 309 between Cheltenham Avenue and Route 73 (Church Road). Construction on this section of Route 309 began in May 2005 and is scheduled to finish late this year.
