State law and Township Ordinance prohibits disposing of leaves, grass, branches, twigs, and garden refuse with household refuse; these must be recycled.

In addition to curbside collections, residents may drop off biodegradable paper bags containing leaves, grass, twigs and/or garden debris at the Waverly Road Compost Facility, located on Waverly Road between Church Road and Cheltenham Avenue in Laverock. The facility is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except holidays, and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., unless affected by holidays. 

NOTE:  Biodegradable paper bags may not be dumped at the facility when it is closed. Violators are subject to fines.

Branch Collections

Disposing of large branches requires an appointment for a special collection, which entails a fee.  However, no branch collections will be scheduled during the fall leaf collection program.

Branch collection requires a special appointment and entails a minimum $10 fee. Call 215-887-6200, ext. 330, to schedule an appointment before placing the branches at the curb.

Spring & Summer Bagged  Garden Debris Collections

Below is the 2008 Spring Bagged Garden Debris Collection Schedule. You may find your route on the route map. Most collections are on Fridays unless a holiday delays it until a Saturday.

Grass, leaves, small branches and garden debris may always be recycled together in biodegradable paper bags. State law and Township Ordinance prohibits disposing of these organic materials with household refuse; they must be recycled.

Use biodegradable paper bags only. Biodegradable paper bags are sold at the Township Building, libraries and community centers. Put bagged leaves at the curb just prior to their scheduled collection day. Do not put trash, rocks, stones or large branches into the biodegradable paper bags.
