The Cheltenham Township Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office co-sponsored the first “Cheltenham Community Shredding Event” in April 2007. This program was very well received and we plan to offer this program as a yearly event.
The program is purposely offered in April to coincide with tax return preparations. The goal of this event is to protect our residents against incidents of identity theft, by helping them to properly dispose of their confidential information. The Cheltenham Township Community Policing Unit will be coordinating this event and will be providing participants with handouts and tips to safeguard their identity; as well as, instructions on what to do if their confidential information has been compromised. This event is open to all Cheltenham Township Residents. The next shredding event will be advertised locally in March, and will be posted on the Township Web page.
