The public can now access a free, local crime map that can be customized by the type of incident, timeframe and geography down to the block.
“Information is power,” says Cheltenham Township Manager David G. Kraynik. “Providing reliable, timely information to our citizens is one of our top priorities, and partnering with CrimeReports gives our Police Department the ability to keep the public informed about what’s happening in the community.”

The public can now access a free, local crime map that can be customized by the type of incident, timeframe and geography down to the block via the police page of the township website.  In addition, local citizens can sign up for free daily, weekly or monthly email alerts, so they can stay on top of crime in their neighborhood.  iPhone users can even download a CrimeReports iPhone app for free from the Apple iTunes store.  The web-based CrimeReports provides this service for over a thousand law enforcement agencies across North America.

“We hope that providing this information will help the community be more aware and vigilant to better prevent crime in their neighborhoods,” said Cheltenham Police Chief John J. Norris.  “Residents are always urged to report suspicious activity immediately to police by calling 911.
