Community members turned out for Cheltenham Township Police Department’s (CTPD) recent “Coffee with a Cop,” graciously hosted by CreekSide Co-op in Elkins Park.
About a dozen Cheltenham officers casually chatted with residents and local merchants while all enjoyed free coffee, pastries and bagels provided by CreekSide Co-op vendors High Point Cafe, Israel's New York Bagels and Valerio Coffee Roasters. The national event is designed to build stronger relationships between law enforcement officers and the community members they serve and protect.

Other CTPD community-building efforts include an annual open house and a Police Athletic League (PAL) for township youngsters ages 8 to 18. Upcoming PAL activities include several free open gym nights at the Rowland Community Center, located at 400 Myrtle Avenue in Cheltenham. The open gyms will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturdays, October 14; November 11 and 25; and December 9 and 23. For more PAL information, visit www.facebook.com/CheltenhamPAL or call 215-885-1600, ext. 477.
