The Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners gratefully accepts a $10,000 PECO Green Region Grant for improvements at Curtis Arboretum in Wyncote.
The project will involve removing approximately 1,100 linear feet of storm sewer pipes, restoring the natural stream channel and planting a natural buffer, which are all actions recommended by the Curtis Arboretum Conservation and Landscape Management Plan that was adopted by the Board of Commissioners in December 2016. The goal of this plan is to preserve and protect the landscape and enhance the management of the historic 47-acre arboretum.

Thanks to PECO and its Green Region Program, these improvements will move from concept to reality. Cheltenham is one of 20 municipalities in the Philadelphia region to receive $150,000 in grants to support municipal conservation, open space and recreation projects. Since 2004, PECO has awarded more than $1.8 million to aid in the completion of 250 projects meeting the goals of this program.
