The Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners presents a resolution honoring the Cheltenham Township Library System’s 50 years of service to the community to Carrie Turner (fifth from right), president and CEO of the system, along with library board members David Updike (second from left), Stephanie Vacharat (fifth from left), Myron Goldman (sixth from right) and Dan Schultz (fourth from right). Due to popular community interest, four libraries were founded in the township from 1928 through 1966. In December 1966, they were united into the Cheltenham Township Library System to ensure the efficient delivery of the invaluable services provided by the library system staff, board of directors and volunteers for more than 50 years. Commissioners (left to right) Drew Sharkey, Daniel B. Norris, Irv Brockington, Baron Holland, Ann L. Rappoport, Morton J. Simon Jr. and Brad M. Pransky made the presentation during a recent meeting of the board of commissioners in Wyncote.
