Public Art Coming to Glenside

A public art project is coming to the Glenside Train Station underpass.

Cheltenham Township is collaborating with SEPTA and Arcadia University on a public art project at the Glenside Train Station underpass on Easton Road in Downtown Glenside.  Philadelphia-based muralist David Guinn will lead an Arcadia class on the project in the spring 2017 semester.   Arcadia University has scheduled several community programs in anticipation of next year’s endeavor:

  • September 23, 6:30 p.m. in Stiteler Auditorium: Visual artist, muralist and community arts educator Michelle Angela Ortiz presents her documentary Aqui y Alla (2012).
  • October 10, 6:30 p.m. in Commons Great Room: Panel discussion on “What Makes a Successful Mural?” with Philadelphia-based muralists David Guinn, Jon Laidacker and Amber Art and Design.
  • October 22, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Depart from Arcadia: Guided bus tour focused on the murals in the Latino neighborhoods of Fishtown and Kensington.
  • November 14, 6:30 p.m. in Commons Great Room: Nato Thompson, Artistic Director of Creative Time, New York, discusses public art and its social dimensions.
