Santa will ring in the holidays on a shiny, red fire truck during WinterFest on Saturday, December 5 on Wesley Plaza off Easton Road in downtown Glenside.  Festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. and include free candy canes, cookies and hot chocolate, plus seasonal carols.  Santa will pose for photos with youngsters for those who bring their own cameras.  In addition, downtown Glenside businesses will feature coupons, in-store specials and extended hours for great holiday shopping.  Parking will be free all day in the Glenside Commercial District.

WinterFest is sponsored by Cheltenham Township Main Street the Downtown Glenside Merchant's Association.  Admission is free. The rain date is Saturday, December 12.  For more information, call the Main Street Manager at 215-887-6200, ext. 113. 


EASTON ROAD DEDICATION. Cheltenham Township’s 2008 WinterFest celebration on Wesley Plaza kicked off with a dedication ceremony for the Easton Road Streetscape and Traffic Calming Improvements completed this fall. Part of the township’s economic enhancement imitative, the improvements beautified Downtown Glenside with attractive streetlights, embossed crosswalks, granite curbs, sidewalk pavers and more, and added traffic calming measures, funded in part with nearly $1.75 million in grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Montgomery County. The ribbon cutting ceremony featured (left to right) Ruth Littner Shaw, Cheltenham Township Main Street Manager; James Briggs, project implementation coordinator for the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission; Morton J. Simon, Cheltenham Commissioner; LeAnna Washington, Pennsylvania State Senator; Alan Cohen, chairman of the Cheltenham Economic Development Task Force; Paul R. Greenwald, Cheltenham Commissioner; David G. Kraynik, Cheltenham Township Manager; Jeffrey A. Muldawer, Cheltenham Commissioner and Board President; Betty Cataldi, Cheltenham School Board member; Drew Sharkey, Cheltenham Commissioner; Scott France, principal planner for the Montgomery County Planning Commission; and Bryan T. Havir, Cheltenham Assistant Township Manager.
