Volunteering in
Cheltenham Township

Did You Know?
Since 1994, Cheltenham Township has honored the contributions of Township volunteers by presenting silver and gold certificates in recognition of 10 and 20 years of service.

Approximately 800 residents participate in the various Township volunteer organizations. Conservatively, the total hours our volunteers work each year tops 54,000. To replace them with paid employees would cost tax payers millions of dollars each year in wages, benefits and equipment.

However, we do not judge the value of these volunteers by dollars alone. Their dedication to the tasks they choose goes well beyond a financial implication. Those of you who have had contact with these volunteers -- whether during a crisis or normal business -- can appreciate the hours of training, work and devotion they each demonstrate.
