Cheltenham Township will commemorate this year’s Black History Month beyond February with a lineup of special events and programs.

On Sunday, February 25, the Citizens for the Restoration of Historical La Mott will present “Black History is American History.” The free event will include historian and author Dr. Cheryl Renee Gooch who will include excerpts from her book about the black Civil War soldiers of Chester County; historian and author David Harrower who will speak about abolitionist and artist David Bustill Bowser; re-enactor Kerry Bryan who will portray Lucretia Mott; and Civil War soldier re-enactors who will lead a sing-along of Civil War era music. The event will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the La Mott Community Center. For more information, call 215-885-2258.
