Cheltenham Transit Bus Service

Due to pressing budgetary constraints combined with declining ridership, uncertain grant funding and increasing costs, the Cheltenham Township Board chose against extending transit bus service into 2010.  Therefore, the last day of the Cheltenham Transit Bus Service will be Thursday, December 31, 2009.

The Cheltenham Transit Service operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays only.  The bus will run in Abington Township on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Cheltenham Township Transit Bus Schedule
Effective as of January 2009
The handicapped-accessible Cheltenham Transit Bus offers transportation around Cheltenham Township, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except major holidays. The bus will stop anywhere it is safe along its route for passengers to board or disembark.

People with disabilities and seniors over age 62 can ride the bus for free with a Cheltenham or PennDOT identification card. Both cards are available at the Township Building, 8230 Old York Road in Elkins Park. Proof of age or disability is required. Children under 51" tall also ride for free. Other passengers can purchase a 10-Trip Ticket on the bus for $10, making a one-way trip just $1. Without a 10-Trip Ticket, a one-way fare is $4 . Exact change is required.
